The Essex Short Breaks programme enables children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families to join in with safe, entertaining and interesting activities, while allowing family members/carers the opportunity to have a break from their normal caring routine.
They also give children and young people the chance to do fun and different activities to help build their confidence and independence.
They are open to all children and young people with SEND who:
- Are aged between 0-18 or 19-25 and in receipt of a personal budget
- Have a diagnosis of special educational needs and/or a disability
- Live within the borders of Essex County Council (excluding Southend and Thurrock as they have their own local offer of short breaks)
Visit the Essex Short Breaks website for more information about the range of activities available and to download the new brochure: shortbreaks.essex.gov.uk/
Hard copies of the brochure are also available upon request via email to Register for Short Breaks
Schools across the Rochford District have taken the opportunity to form a Charitable Trust, working together to help the schools, families and the community to make the best of their resources.
This team were responsible for setting up and running the Multi Agency Cluster (MAC) Meetings, promoting partnership working between statutory, non statutory and voluntary organisions, to provide the best support for children and their families.
They have been awarded Advanced Quality in Extended Services by Canterbury Christchurch University and were judged to be 'outstanding in all areas'. They are the only service in Essex to have achieved this level of accreditation!
The Leisure Team at Rochford District Council has introduced a new online system for the Rochford District Holiday Activities Programme, which aims to offer a variety of sports, arts and leisure activities during the school holidays for children, families and teens in venues across the Rochford District.
You can now view the Holiday Activities programme for each school holiday via our Events Calendar
Using the tick boxes above the calendar, you can narrow your search to ‘Holiday activities’ and the dates for the school holiday you are looking for, with options to view by week and by day. Click on each activity entry to find out more information.
We hope you continue to enjoy the wide range of activities on offer across the district and that the new system will mean you have an even more varied choice of activities to take part in throughout the year.
