Relationship & Sex Education (RSE) Consultation
As you may already be aware, the Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education (RSE) following nationwide consultation. These changes will come into effect from Spring 2021 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements.
This means that we have been reviewing our RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) curriculum and policy so we can be sure our RSE provision is appropriate for our pupils based on their:
- Physical and emotional maturity
- Religious and cultural backgrounds
- Special educational needs and disabilities
We recently invited you to complete our RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) parental consultation and would like to thank you for being part of this process. As a school community we are committed to working in partnership with our parents as your feedback is invaluable.
The results of our parent questionnaire can be viewed here
Our next steps will be to consult our pupils on the changes and hear their views on our current PSHE curriculum and developing RSE curriculum. All feedback will be considered and shared with staff to ensure we are providing the best opportunities to promote physical and mental health, healthy relationships and keeping our children safe in the modern world, including safeguarding. We will use all feedback to develop our current PSHE curriculum, with careful planning to ensure the delivery and content of our Scheme of Work is up to date, informative, age appropriate and relevant. Learning about the emotional, social, and physical aspects of growing up will give children and young people the information, skills, and positive values to have safe, fulfilling relationships and help them take responsibility for their own well-being.
For any further information regarding the changes to the curriculum please see links below or contact the school office to talk to someone directly.
